As we are in the full swing of summer you may notice issues arising with your roof. Summer storms bring hail damage, high winds and heavy rainfall. Here’s some tips to keep your roof in top notch condition during the summer months to prevent or solve problems.

You may have some damage from the winter months or harsh storms so in order for the water to run seamlessly off your roof you want to check for any damage or blockages. Tighten loose bolts, to avoid leakage and potential flooding.

Cut away branches

Trees are great for providing shade, adding character to your yard, and bringing singing birds around. Cut back any large limbs that could fall onto your roof and do serious damage. Even though a tree may look big and healthy Alberta storms can easily cause trees to break. It’s best to be on the safe side and cut away branches that are too close to your home.

Check for damaged shingles

If you see any fungus or moss developing remove it right away to keep away rodents that can cause serious harm to your home. and follow up by checking in your attic for any mold starting.

If you have a skylight in your house, it’s important to regularly check it. Start by inspecting the metal stripping and making sure there aren’t any leaks. Then check for any cracks in the glass. Since these windows aren’t constantly in our view its easy to miss chips or cracks caused by hail.
